The Top Reasons You Should Start Building Your Own Membership Sites
Whether you are new to internet marketing or an old pro, I’m sure we can all agree on one thing. Recurring revenue rules! Month after month, the checks keep coming in whether you work or not.
Much of the training materials for internet marketing all focus on creating your own ebooks or marketing other peoples products and receiving a commission for the referral. aka affiliate marketing but what about running your own membership site to generate recurring income, month after month. Sound difficult. Well, let’s take a closer look at how hard it really is… or isn’t.
Membership sites are all the rage now. Everybody’s getting into starting them, what about you?
A few of the biggest obstacles I run into when discussing this online business alternative to affiliate marketing is…
1. I don’t have the material to stock a membership site to make it worth while for people to join and continue paying their monthly membership fees.
2. I have no clue what type of software or work is involved in running a membership site.
Do YOU fall into one of these two categories? Perhaps both?
If neither of these describe you and you have something else holding you back from developing this line of recurring revenue, let me know what it is, I’m curios?
For the rest of you that do fall in one or both of these categories, let’s explore some options that might help you overcome these obstacles and start working on building a real business, one that can run itself, one that provides you with recurring revenue every month. A business you set up once and it continues to pay you forever.
Does that sound good?
Let’s tackle the first problem head on. There are actually numerous ways to crash through this barrier, it really should be a non-issue for you by the time we finish here.
You could pick up a copy of “Write Like A Maniac” and learn how to churn out content yourself. It’s only $10 and if you have any writing ability at all, this can save you a lot of money plus you will be providing completely original content which makes your membership site worth more and your members less likely to cancel.
If you don’t feel you are capable of writing your own content or if you would rather make better use of your time than doing the actual writing, you can grab a copy of “How To Create Your Own Ebook Enterprise” which goes into great detail on how to pick out the hot niches and hiring out the writing part of the process using the services of ghostwriters. It’s only $10 as well and well worth the money should you decide to approach it from this direction.
Another way is to actually buy plr (private label rights) content in the form of ebooks or article form which you can then use directly as it is, rewrite the content to make it appear more original or pay someone to rewrite it for you. Here’s an example of an available private label rights article package… “650 PLR Articles Mega Pack“. You can search google for “plr articles” for more or check out “Top Quality Private Label Rights Articles” for 9800+ plr articles, 56+ plr ebooks, plr audios, plr videos and more.
This brings us to the second issue. What software do you use to run a membership site? How do you actually manage a membership site? etc..
For software, I would suggest using “Dynamic Content Manager“.
There are much more expensive solutions out there but this one packs all the punch you’ll need to build your own membership sites.
This software is “smart” and allows you to load all of your content into the system and have it released to the members at predetermined, scheduled intervals. It even allows you to choose to release information based upon each individual members length of membership meaning a member who has been signed up for 6 months will be getting different content than the person that signed up last month. This is a VERY powerful tool that will help keep your members paying month after month.
Unlike many of the more expensive membership site software solutions, “Dynamic Content Manager” licenses you to use this software on all of your domains without paying additional fees. You can run one or one hundred membership sites, it’s up to you.
Installation is simple. Just upload the files onto your webhosting account and follow the detailed user manual to configure your membership sites options. If you aren’t sure how to upload files, here’s a flash presentation on how to upload files using HostGators File Manager and here’s one on uploading files using ws_ftp. Last resort, you can usually find someone to upload and install for $20 or less at RentACoder.
If you don’t have a domain name. I use and recommend GoDaddy. ($9.95/yr)
If you don’t have a webhosting account. I use and recommend HostGator. ($7.95/mo. – can host unlimited domains).
I hope you are able to see the value in building your own membership sites.
Another plus of building your own membership sites is that you can actually pay other internet marketers a commission to sell memberships for you.
