Getting Backlinks – Quick, Easy, Or Quality

The harsh reality of getting backlinks is that they can be quick, easy, or quality but can seldom be all 3 at once. You can choose quantity or quality or get a mixture of both.

The Quick Backlinks

I consider the quick backlinks to be the social bookmarking sites aka the Digg Clones. Digg itself has gone mainly nofollow but there are still a bunch of options when it comes to social bookmarking. Just do a Google search for social bookmarking sites or Digg Clones and you will be set for the next 5 or 10 years.

Pros: They are both quick and easy most don’t require email verification when you register. I do get tired of email verification on occasion and hit up the social sites then. You can do multiple pages of your blog or website.

Cons: Too many links coming off the sites so the links that you do get will be pretty weak. There are so many of them out there and it is so easy to do that I figure it’s something that will have to be taken fixed eventually.

The Easy Backlinks

I think one of the easiest ways to get backlinks are forum posts. It is not as quick as the social bookmarking sites because you do have to do email verification when registering and you need to figure out the rules of your particular forum but still a nice easy backlink.

Pros: You can get as many links as you want assuming you are trying to be a member of the community and not just a spam artist. If the site you pick has an active community it is a good place to network and meet people in your field.

Cons: Forums are misused if not strongly moderated and are often used by spammers as a way to get backlinks. Many forums have a post minimum before you can add a link. You are going to be spending a lot of time getting these easy backlinks. I said they were easy not quick.

The Quality Backlinks

Now we move into the things that take a little more time and effort but can be a lot more rewarding. There is a reason that I am writing this article at EzineArticles and not submitting at a social bookmarking site or posting in a forum. Using Articles to get backlinks from article directories and social portal sites will get you some quality backlinks.

Pros: The highest quality backlinks, if you have a new site your article will frequently out rank your blog or website. The standards are higher so they have more trust in the eyes of Google. You are getting a small share of a large pool of incoming links from people getting backlinks too their articles and suggesting these sites as a good tool.

Cons: Time. That’s pretty much it. It takes time to write the article and it takes time to get it approved.

Certain individual sites have pros and cons not mentioned but I am not planning to go through each and every site so take this as a general guide not a hard and fast set of rules.

There you have it, the truth about getting backlinks-quick, easy, or quality.
